Welcome back to DMA Success Stories Week, showcasing some of the standout student profiles we’ve presented this fall! Here’s another look at a talented junior producer who attended DMA last summer:

Melanie knows melodies and already understood a lot about music. But she really expanded her “musical vocabulary” this past June at Digital Media Academy tech camp!

One day, Melanie may work as a therapist who uses music to help treat people with various disorders.

The 8-year-old from San Jose attended DMA’s Stanford tech camps, under the direction of instructor Edwin Huet.

According to Edwin, Melanie loved the music camps she took at DMA, and enjoyed the music she was creating so much that she couldn’t stop herself from dancing along with it.

We wanted to find out more about her DMA experience:

What did you actually create at DMA tech camp?
I made electrical music, percussion music and base music. I also made melodies!

How exactly did it make you feel when you completed your final project?
Happy, proud and good that I accomplished something.

I can now make new kinds of music at home.
– DMA Student and Music Maker Melanie Prince

Did you make friends at DMA camp this summer?
I made two friends at camp! We gave each other advice on how to make our music and we played together at break.

Would you like to come back to a DMA tech camp next summer?
Yes, because it was fun! And I want to learn photography or moviemaking!

What were the most fun things about attending DMA tech camp?
It was fun because I got to make new friends and I can now make new kinds of music at home.

Would you suggest DMA tech camps to your best friends and their parents?
Yes. I would tell them to come because it’s so awesome and they would have a fun experience, too!

We also asked if Melanie’s parents were pleased with her DMA experience.
Her Mom told us, “Yes! She had a great time and learned a lot of new things!”

That’s music to our ears.

If you put music “above” everything (like this guy), come join us at DMA music camp!

We hope Melanie does return for another fun season at one of the great DMA kids summer camps. Right now there’s good reason to go ahead and sign up now for Summer 2016 tech camps and courses at Digital Media Academy.

DMA just announced its new courses and locations for Summer 2016. Now is the best time to lock in your favorite tech camp or course.

Summer 2016 is shaping up to be the best yet at Digital Media Academy!

Special thanks to DMA’s Peggy Lee and Rachelle Harding for coordinating this interview!
