COVID-19 Update

Regarding Summer 2020 Tech Camps during the COVID-19 pandemic

May 2020 COVID-19 Update

Updated Thursday, May 28, 2020.

Digital Media Academy began educating teachers and young people more than 20 years ago. Nothing we’ve experienced since has impacted our students, staff, and community more than the current COVID-19 crisis.

At Digital Media Academy, our most important priority is the health and safety of our students, staff, and communities. If we are unable to provide a safe and healthy environment for on-campus learning we will not do so. If camp is canceled due to COVID-19 customers will receive full credit for their purchase good for any Tech Camp location operated by Digital Media Academy in 2021.

We are coordinating closely with our location partners to determine if Tech Camps can run. It would be extremely regretful if we were unable to provide the on-campus experience our clients have come to expect over the last 20 years. We have received word from most of our university partners or have made a determination based on the health and safety of our students and staff on whether Tech Camps will run this summer. Here’s are the current locations statuses:

  • Stanford University has canceled all on-campus activities therefore we cannot run Tech Camps at Stanford.
  • New York University has canceled all on-campus activities therefore we cannot run Tech Camps at NYU.
  • George Washington University has canceled all on-campus activities therefore we cannot run Tech Camps at GWU.
  • The University of Chicago has canceled all on-campus activities therefore we cannot run Tech Camps at UofC.
  • The University of Texas at Austin’s Catholic Center has canceled all on-campus activities therefore we cannot run Tech Camps at UT, Austin.
  • Meredith College has canceled on-campus activities and closed facilities including dining and housing therefore we cannot run Tech Camps at Meredith College.
  • The Province of Ontario and the University of Toronto have prohibited overnight camps and the status of day camps remains to be determined therefore we cannot safely prepare and run Tech Camps at UofT.
  • A lack of certainty that we can safely operate or clear guidelines from the University of Washington and the state of Washington has forced the postponement of Tech Camps at the University of Washington, Seattle.

The status of the following camps remains to be determined:

  • UBC
  • Harvard

We want our entire community to continue their learning right now so we are providing full access to our STEAM Learning Lab to every student. We are doing everything we can to ensure that learning can continue for all our students.

We are excited to provide all of our registered students with:

  • Full Access to our STEAM Learning Lab – 30 courses for students ages 7 through 18.
  • Learner Support for students as they make their way through the STEAM Learning Lab.
  • Full Adobe Creative Cloud Access through Fall 2020.
  • An unlimited Gmail and Google Drive account.

If you have not received information about how to access any of these services please contact us at info@digitalmediaacademy.org.

If you’ve registered for a camp and the camp is canceled due to COVID-19 we will be providing full credit to the Digital Media Account used to make the purchase. This credit is not transferable and will be good through August 31, 2021. Read terms and conditions

Lastly, we are deeply sorry to not have the opportunity to provide an unforgettable on-campus learning experience for all of our students this year, as we have been providing students for the last nineteen years.

We thank you for being a part of Digital Media Academy. Should you have any questions, please contact us at info@digitalmediaacademy.org.

Sincerely,

The Entire Digital Media Academy Team
