Design, Build, and Program Your Own Creations

Few things are more gratifying than building something for yourself. Over the course, two weeks students will learn how to build and program a robot using Arduino and a pi-top laptop using Python then they’ll take it home!

Week 1, Build a Robot with Arduino: This course provides an introduction to the world of robotics and electrical engineering! We’ll move students from basic programming and electronic circuit concepts to building the robot and exploring each sensor/actuator’s capabilities by programming the RedBot Arduino platform.

Week 2, Build a Laptop with Python: The second week builds on the knowledge of basic programming and circuitry to teach students to build their own unique projects using the Raspberry Pi and a variety of sensors. Students will learn the basics of Python, physical computing with the Pi, and how to use the Pi’s internet connectivity to communicate with it remotely.

Students in this academy will take home a robot and a laptop that they’ve built and programmed themselves!

Receive up to 12 months of Adobe Creative Cloud by registering today ($600 Value). Students in this course will also receive a Take-Home SparkFun Inventor’s Kit for RedBot.

No previous experience is required, but a basic understanding of programming will better prepare you for success in this academy.

About Robotics and Engineering Courses

Our Robotics + Engineering courses teach kids the basics of electrical engineering and programming as they design and build robots and laptops. The Robotics & Engineering Academy starts by immersing students in the fundamentals of mechanical and electrical engineering as they design, build, test, and program their robot to complete various challenges. Students will then harness the power of the internet as they create electrical gadgets that respond to internet data! Not only will students take home Arduino kits and Laptops to experiment with, but the various projects that students complete can also be used in portfolios for college applications and internships long after camp ends.  Explore more robotics and engineering courses.

Is any programming or electrical engineering experience required?

No. However, having a basic understanding of programming concepts will better prepare you for success.

Camp Upgrades

Get the most out of your summer with Digital Media Academy when you add any or all of the following:

Lunch Plan

Make things easy and get lunch on campus so you don’t have to pack your own. Lunch Plans start at $95/week at select locations.

Overnight Housing

Stay in the dorms and eat on-campus, Sunday through Friday. Overnight Housing starts at $695/week where available.

Extended Day

Our flexible Extended Day option allows families to pick-up students as late as 6:00 PM from Monday to Thursday at all locations.

Weekend Stay

Add Weekend Stay and enjoy extra activities and day trips around the area. Weekend Stay starts at $380/weekend at select locations.
